Durbanville Hills – Johannesburg – Musical food and wine chairs at Full Stop Cafe – Aug 2014

August literally flew past this month! We have been blessed with an awesome year thus far at Come wine with us and we would really like to thank all our constant followers that love  attending our events and support us all the way.

In August, Durbanville Hills was our wine brand of the month. We had an absolute blast at Full Stop Cafe, which is known to be one of the most friendliest hubs in Parktown North.

Doing events in Cape Town and Johannesburg, we always like to see the diversity when it comes to the type of people that attend our events. We have connected with quite a few people that use to either study in Cape Town or Stellenbosch, or who are from Cape originally that misses going on wine tours and experiencing the latest foodie joints. For us, it’s really about bringing people together to connect and be part of a community where we all have one thing in common, and that’s to socialize and meet others.

The first time I spoke to the guys from Full Stop Cafe, they were very chilled and in control, to a point where I was beginning to wonder what our next event will  have in store for us. The week I arrived in JHB in order to set up and discuss the flow of the evening, I realized that we were in  great hands. Full Stop is beautifully located in an Old Victorian house that sort of gives the clients a flair of Cape Town & the ever popular restaurants in Kloof Street.

Durbanville Hills, a brand which needs no introduction really shined (yet again!) on the evening, with wine maker Martin Moore at the helm.  Super consistent in what they do, we had  a good selection for the evening which consisted of Merlot Rose for the starter, Sauvignon Blanc for the starter, Shiraz for the main and Pinotage for the dessert.  All of these wines  are on par when it comes to being perfectly balanced wines and is great value for money.

The food really showed what Full Stop is all about. Full fabulous mezze platters were served as a starter. These consisted of chicken strips, dips, cheese, cold meat and crudités platters.

The Main course is one of Full Stops favourites which was , Oxtail served with lovely cumin root veg, pea puree and parmesan mash. This was a real winner when served with the Shiraz .

For the dessert I was completely dumbstruck! It was and I don’t say this often, one of the best cheese cakes I have ever eaten. Super smooth, perfect crust…. Served with a nut brittle and Pinotage berry reduction.  I ask Richard, as a joke if he stole the recipe from his Jewish family, because it really ranks up there with my Jewish Aunty Di’s  cheese cake.

All in all it was a really great evening. People really enjoyed the fun interaction with others on the evening or via social media. To have a look at what others had to say about the evening, have a look at the following Twitter  and other social media accounts:
