About Bain’s Whisky
Made with only 100% sun-kissed South African yellow maze, in a region that boasts 850-million-year-old sandstone and a diversity of indigenous fynbos, there’s a story in each sip of Bain’s incredibly smooth single grain whisky.
The taste of Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky reflects the unique place where it’s crafted, in the Cape Mountains, near the foothills of the Bainskloof Pass in Wellington in the Western Cape, South Africa. Only the finest South African yellow maize is used, setting Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky apart from any other whisky produced in the world.
Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky is a whisky 10 years in the making with Founder Distiller Andy Watts’ inspiration coming in 1999. After years of perfecting his craft, Bain’s was launched to the South African market in 2009 and just four years later was awarded the title of “World’s Best Grain Whisky” for the first time.
The Bainskloof Pass, now a national monument, is a botanically-rich area of the Cape, made up of pine forests, a variety of indigenous fynbos, crisp, clear mountain pools and breathtakingly scenic views. Bain’s is inspired by the natural beauty of these Cape Mountains, and its high peaks, cool valleys and biodiversity influence the delicate flavours of our whisky to this day.
